Professor John Armour of Oxford University has joined us as the Commerzbank-Stiftung Visiting Professor in the Summer Semester. He teaches our LL.M. Finance students the course "Comparative Corporate Law" in April and May 2012. In addition, he will be delivering 2 public Guest Lectures on 21 May: "Corporate Governance and Systemic Externalities"; and  4 June: "Bank Resolution Regimes: Ensuring Credibility". Professor Armour was appointed to the Lovells Professorship in Law and Finance at Oxford University, in association with Oriel College on 1 July 2007, having previously been a University Senior Lecturer in Law and Fellow of Trinity Hall at Cambridge University. He studied law (MA, BCL) at the University of Oxford before completing his LL.M. at Yale Law School and taking up his first post at the University of Nottingham. He has held visiting posts at various institutions including Pennsylvania Law School, the University of Bologna, and Columbia Law School. He has published widely in the fields of company law, corporate finance, and corporate insolvency. His main research interest lies in the integration of legal and economic analysis, with particular emphasis on the impact on the real economy of changes in the law governing insolvency and company law.
