Insurance and Risk Management Part I (Insured's Perspective)

 

Course Description:

This course will acquaint students with the risk management process (risk identification, risk evaluation and control), the insurance coverages that international corporations typically buy and finance alternatives. Part 1 will give an overview of the segmentation and nomenclature of international insurance, the structure and “ground rules” of international risk sharing, as well as power structure of market participants. It will also analyse aspects of risk management and its components of the insured corporations. Directors’ and Officers’ Liability (D&O) insurance will be presented, which provides financial protection for the directors and officers of a company in the event they are sued in conjunction with the performance of their duties in the company as one of the "state of the art" requirements for senior management.

For this course, Mr. Günter Dröse will be assisted by guest speakers, Mr. Fausto Parente, Executive Director of EIOPA, Frankfurt, Mr. Steffen Muehlthaler, Senior Underwriter Marine of Helvetia, as well as Mr. Markus English, Enterprise Risks Underwriting Manager of Tokio Marine Kiln in Frankfurt.
