Apply Now to Join our LL.M. Finance Program starting in October 2019!

We offer a unique one-year graduate program leading to a Master of Laws in Finance. Up to about 50 highly qualified graduates will be admitted for study so as to ensure academic excellence and direct personal contact between students and the faculty. ILF students are fully-enrolled members of Goethe University which confers the LL.M. Finance degree.

This program conducted entirely in English is intended for graduates with a good degree in law, business or economics, and who have an interest in combining theoretical knowledge with practical training in law and international finance. It overcomes the traditional separation of the academic disciplines of law and business/economics by teaching you aspects of both and focuses on their intersection and interplay. The program is international, interdisciplinary and an interaction between theory and practice. The faculty consists of both prominent academics as well as experienced practitioners from Europe’s legal and financial world.

The LL.M. Finance program which was established in 2002 also incorporates a special 7 to 8 weeks' internship with public and private institutions which support the ILF. These institutions typically include leading international law firms, banks, accounting and consulting firms, the European Central Bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, and BaFin (German Financial Supervisory Authority).

The ILF has a student exchange program with the Law School of Columbia University, one of the most prominent law schools in the United States. One student from the academic year 2019/20 who has a first degree in law and who has completed and particularly excelled duirng his/her studies at the ILF shall, upon the prior acceptance of Columbia Law School, be sent to New York, the world’s major financial center, to attend one semester of Columbia Law School's Juris Doctor (J.D.) program. Upon the successful completion of the course requirements at Columbia Law School, the students will receive official Columbia University transcripts indicating the courses which they have attended as well as the grades received for those courses.

The ILF is located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the major financial center in Europe, provides the ideal location to train young professionals to deal with current and future legal and financial challenges.
