Prof. Dr. Wandt studied Law at the universities of Mannheim, Paris and Strasbourg. After his Second State Examination he worked as a research assistant at the University of Mannheim. He wrote his doctoral thesis in conflict of laws and his post-doctoral thesis on international product liability. He then taught as a professor at the University of Hannover, and in 1995 took up the chair of Civil Law, Commercial and Insurance Law, Private International Law and Comparative Law at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt. He is an editorial board member of the journal Versicherungsrecht, a member of the European Restatement Group of Insurance Contract Law and other professional associations, including the Committee of the Deutsche Verein für Versicherungswissenschaft.


He has published especially on insurance law, tort law, product liability law as well as on conflict of laws.
