What motivated you to apply for the LL.M. Finance program at the Institute for Law and Finance (ILF)?

The ILF caught my attention at first sight for different reasons. Its curricula offered a variety of courses that included finance, which I found challenging and I considered it to be extra value for my career as a lawyer. Moreover, having the experience of living and working in one of the most important financial hubs in the world would be an invaluable experience for me. All those thoughts that motivated my application to apply to join the program at the ILF eventually became reality.

What advice would you offer ILF applicants or prospective students?

Be open to challenges, learn extensively and live intensely! Enroll in the Fundamentals of Finance course, don’t give up when the exam approaches - your future classmates will be your team for that challenge and you will succeed together (we all did). Enjoy every moment during the program and your stay in Frankfurt, and if you come from afar, take advantage of Frankfurt’s location and travel around.

What do you remember most with fondness during your time here at the ILF?

Each day was a memorable experience because of my fellow classmates, now friends. As we were a small group, there was many opportunities to share and to get to know the whole group and although we had different cultural backgrounds, we actually had much more in common than I initially expected. Now, I have friends from all over the world!

Please explain to us your current job and your title.

I have been working in DLA Piper Perú for almost 9 years (with a brief break in between for the LL.M Finance Program) and I am currently a senior associate in the banking and finance practice. My work involves financial services regulation, advising in banking, capital markets, and payments regulation,  so I work with banks and other financial institutions, payment services providers and Fintech in starting and developing their businesses in Peru. In addition, I handle  debt capital markets and securitization transactions.
