Navigating higher rates, volatility and liquidity crises: Finance and Regulation in the New Monetary Order

and Online

The Institute for Law and Finance’s 12th Conference on the Future of the Financial Sector will be held on a hybrid basis on the Westend Campus of Goethe University in Frankfurt on Friday, January 19, 2024, co-chaired once again by Andreas Dombret and Patrick Kenadjian.

The topic will be “Navigating higher rates, volatility and liquidity crises: Finance and Regulation in the New Monetary Order”. The financial sector evolved strongly in response to “Low for Long” monetary policy, but while the central banks have exited “Low for Long” months ago, the financial sector is far from finished adapting to the “New Monetary Order” that is still evolving. The program will focus on lessons learned from the financial sector’s adaptation to the “Low for Long” period and the most likely scenarios and implications for the financial sector, and its regulation, in the years ahead. We are planning to organize the day around five topic clusters, how the financial sector evolved during “low for long”; how, going forward, we can expect monetary policy to evolve; what changes can we expect in regulation and supervision; how will the regulated financial sector evolve; and how will the rest of the financial world evolve.
