3rd Digital Financial Services Forum

In co-operation with the Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and the Center for Financial Studies, the Institute for Law and Finance invites you to join our 3rd Digital Financial Services Forum, on regulating the tech in fintech.

The conference will take place on Thursday, 28 April 2022 between 10.00h and 13.30h CEST in a virtual format. Attendance is free of charge.

The forum will focus on the legal and economic issues involved in the advance of technology into the financial markets. Various legislative proposals and regulatory initiatives (including on BigTech and Mixed Activity Groups) have recently been launched at a European level to enhance the integration of technology-based solutions into the financial services industry and to build a safe and fit-for-purpose regulatory environment at the same time. These developments will have important implications for all actors related to the financial services industry and active across the entire value chain, including banks, payment services providers, large technology companies, investment firms, asset managers and fintechs. The forum will feature key note addresses from the Commission and the European Banking Authority on the ESAs recent response to the European Commission’s Call for Advice on Digital Finance, as well as speakers and panellists from industry and academia.

The following guest speakers and panellists have already kindly confirmed their attendance:

  • Mattias Levin - Deputy Head of Digital Finance Unit, European Commission - DG FISMA
  • Elisabeth Noble - Senior Policy Expert, European Banking Authority
  • Christian Hecker, Founder of Trade Republic Bank GmbH
  • Markus Benzing, Partner, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
