On 14 April 2016, Wirtschaftsstrafrechtliche Vereinigung e.V. (WisteV) and Deutsche Strafverteidiger e.V. in cooperation with the ILF and Deutsches Zentrum für Wirtschafts-, Steuer- und Unternehmensstrafrecht e.V. (DZWiSt) hosted a joint event on criminal law with a focus on Anti-Money Laundering and the role of financial institutions in the prevention of crime at the House of Finance, Goethe-University.
Dr. Christian Schoop, Deutsche Strafverteidiger e.V., and Dr. Christian Rosinus, Wirtschaftsstrafrechtliche Vereinigung e.V. (WisteV), welcomed the attendees and speakers and opened the event by introducing the main topics and the speakers of the conference.
Prof. Dr. Jens Bülte, University of Mannheim, delivered the Key Note Speech on „Outsourcing von Kriminalprävention durch Geldwäschecompliance – verfassungsrechtliche und rechtsdogmatische Aspekte“.
The first lecture on “Umgang mit den gestiegenen regulatorischen Anforderungen zur Kriminalprävention und –investigation in der Praxis” was held by Michael Peters, Deloitte Forensic. He was followed by Oberstaatsanwalt Dr. Stephan Neuheuser, who spoke about „Umgang mit Finanzinstituten bei strafrechtlichen Ermittlungen“.
After a lunch break Hans Martin Lang, Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht, presented his speech on „Geldwäscheprävention durch die BaFin, Aufgaben, praktische Handhabe, Durchführung von Bußgeldverfahren“. Subsequently, Rechtsanwalt Dr. Bernd Groß talked about “Die Rolle von Finanzinstituten bei staatsanwaltlichen Ermittlungen im Kontext des regulatorischen Umfelds aus der Sicht des Strafverteidigers“. The last speaker of the day was Marcus Columbu, who gave an insight into regulatory requirements for financial institutions in crime prevention in his talk “Regulatorische Anforderungen an Finanzinstitute zur Kriminalprävention”.
The fourth joint event of Wirtschaftsstrafrechtliche Vereinigung e.V. (WisteV) and Deutsche Strafverteidiger e.V. was closed by a discussion and answer session chaired by Dr. Christian Schoop and Dr. Christian Rosinus.
