ILF Conference on Bank Culture and Ethics on 23 Nov 2015

November 23, 2015
9:45 am to 6:30 pm
Frankfurt am Main

The financial industry is still struggling to regain public trust seven years after a financial crisis which remains largely identified in the public mind with greed, excessive risk-taking and generally weak governance and ethics in financial institutions. The significant progress which has been made through international initiatives to address other weaknesses in the financial system have evidently not sufficed to reestablish the legitimacy of financial institutions in the public mind, leading to the conclusion that we must address more directly the question of culture and ethics at the firms involved. This will be the topic of a day-long conference to discuss how to resolve the core issues involved and reestablish finance as a true profession with broader social obligations and encourage market participants to think of their roles as part of a broader system.

Confirmed speakers include:

Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, Chairman Société Générale
John Cryan, CEO Deutsche Bank
Andreas Dombret, Member of the Executive Board Deutsche Bundesbank
Leonhard Fischer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board BHF Bank
Douglas Flint, Chairman HSBC
Wim Mijs, Chief Executive European Bankers Association
Danielle Nouy, President of the Supervisory Board, European Central Bank
Jean-Claude Trichet, Chairman Group of Thirty
Axel Weber, Chairman UBS
