ILF Summer School “Law of Banking and Capital Markets” from 21 August to 1 September 2017

The ILF successfully conducted its Summer School “Law of Banking and Capital Markets” from 21 August to 1 September 2017. The Summer School was aimed at highly qualified advanced students of German law, German law clerks and PhD students with a particular interest for Law of Banking and Capital Markets.

During a total of ten course days, the Summer School Law of Banking and Capital Markets taught principles and in-depth knowledge of Banking Supervisory Law and Restructuring of Banks, Credit and Hybrid Financing, Issuances of Debentures and Stocks as well as of Trading and Acquisition of Loans Portfolio. In addition, principles and practice of Specialized Financing und Derivates were introduced. Further topics were Asset Management, Tax Law, Law on Takeovers and Going Private and Drafting of Legal Documents in English.

The course days were themed and lectured by experts from the top law firms Allen & Overy, Baker McKenzie, Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Hengeler Mueller, KWM Europe, Latham & Watkins, Linklaters and representatives of ABN Amro Bank, Morgan Stanley Bank, BHF-Bank, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank and German Stock Exchange. By attending a number of informal get-togethers and dinner events, the selected participants had the opportunity to network with the representatives of the law firms and banks as well as amongst themselves.
