Panel Discussion on "Diversity and its consequences: Sitting below a glass ceiling - Career opportunities for women in law firms"

On 19 May 2014, a panel discussion on "Diversity and its consequences: Sitting below a glass ceiling - Career opportunities for women in law firms" was hosted by the ILF in cooperation with the FAZ Institute and the Deutsche AnwaltSpiegel.

Around 80 participants attended the panel discussion in the House of Finance . After a welcome by the ILF Managing Director, Dr. Rolf Friedewald, Prof. Dr. Thomas Wegerich, German AnwaltSpiegel, moderated  the event. First, the results of the AnwaltSpiegel study were presented to the audience. Thereafter, Anna Engers, diventure, opened the following panel discussion with her keynote speech. The members of the panel were Dr. Astrid Arndt, Director for Recruiting and Professional Development, Hengeler Mueller Berlin, Ms. Sylvia Fiebig, Partner, White & Case Hamburg, Dr. Kerstin Kopp, Partner, Clifford Chance Frankfurt am Main and Dr. Maria Wolleh, Partner Mannheimer Swartling Berlin. The panel members answered and commented on the numerous questions from the audience. Following the panel discussion, Deutscher AnwaltSpiegel invited the participants for refreshments in the foyer of the House of Finance.

In addition to the networking opportunities for the guests, a group of current ILF students led by Ms. Jane Xu (ILF Class President 2014 ) and Ms. Rebeca Sanchez informed the visitors about  this year's voluntary social project of the ILF students,  "Violence Prevention in Families and Children Protection in Mexico, Fundacion JUCONI", at an information booth and raised a total of €277 during the evening for this initiative. With this social project, ILF students are able to apply their project management skills and show their special social commitment in an international environment.
