Successful Start of Winter Semester Classes at the ILF

Since the start of the Winter Semester on 2 October 2026, ILF students of the academic year 2026-2027 have attended the introductory courses "Basics of EU Law" and “Basics of Financial Mathematics” during the first week from 5 to 9 October 2026. These 2 courses have equipped them with the foundations and training necessary for the acquisition of further knowledge and expertise in the varied and specialized courses in the areas of law and finance. Since 12 October 2026, our students have been regularly attending the courses offered in the LL.M. curriculums and learning from many top experts in their fields!

In addition, soft skills workshops have also been held for our students as follows:

Interview Skills Workshop for LL.M. Finance Students on 15 October 2026

On 15 October 2026, students of the LL.M. Finance program took part in an “Interview Skills Workshop” at the House of Finance. The session was particularly designed to prepare our students for interviews during the ILF’s Internship Placement Process, as well as for applications and interviews at a later stage of their education in the German job market.

Under the motto “Think like a Recruiter”, the workshop began with a change of perspective: what are employers really looking for, and what evidence can candidates offer that goes beyond their qualifications? Students learned to decode job advertisements, to distinguish between genuine requirements and nice-to-haves, and to turn their academic projects, volunteering and student activities into concrete, convincing examples that show their personal contribution rather than mere duties. A particular focus was placed on a confident and well-structured self-presentation. Participants practiced answering “Tell me about yourself” using the Past–Present–Future approach and the elevator pitch, and worked with the STAR method to answer behavioral, situational and industry-specific questions. The workshop also covered how to build rapport with interviewers, how to use voice and body language effectively, and how to ask thoughtful questions at the end of an interview. Further sessions addressed the CV and cover letter, with practical examples of how to present achievements clearly and in a quantified way, as well as follow-up after the interview and the development of a professional online presence, including LinkedIn. Interactive exercises, such as role-plays and a recruiter’s decision-making case, gave students the opportunity to apply what they had learned immediately.

The central message of the workshop: an interview is not simply about answering questions, but about giving the recruiter enough evidence to say “yes”.
