Workshop of a Chinese delegation of Huarong Asset Management at the ILF on 23 and 24 October 2017

A delegation of 25 managers of Huarong Asset Management visited the ILF on 23 October 2017. Dr. Rolf Friedewald, ILF Managing Director, Ms. Shen-Dee Kobbelt, ILF Head of Programs & Marketing, and Ms. Xiaojing Zhang, ILF Admissions & Marketing Manager, welcomed the delegation in the House of Finance.

Dr. Friedewald held a presentation on Goethe University Frankfurt, the ILF and its activities and the Master of International Banking, Securities and Finance Program. Dr. Rüdiger Litten, Attorney-at-Law and Partner of Norton Rose Fulbright, gave an introduction to the EU Regulation and Supervision of the Finance Industry and answered the questions of the audience on legal issues related to asset management.

After a lunch break, the experts of Deloitte and Deloitte Legal introduced their worldwide legal advisory and consulting business through Mr. Feng Yan, Manager Chinese Service Group, Deloitte Legal, and Mrs. Kun Yang, CIPA Senior Manager, Deloitte. Mr. Andreas Koch  presented the topics of risk management and of distressed asset management. Dr. Mathias Hanten, Attorney-at-Law, Partner of Deloitte Legal and Member of the ILF Donors' Committee, introduced his colleagues from the Munich offices of Deloitte who held lectures on instruments of risk management to prevent loan defaults and to calculate contingencies and reserves for failing loans.

Mr. Stefan Keitel, CEO of Deka Investment and Head of Asset Management of Deka Bank, lectured on asset management at Deka Investment and gave an economic outlook on the year 2018 and the development of the equity and debt markets. At the end of the first day of the visit, the law firms presenting and the ILF invited the participants to a reception at the faculty lounge of the House of Finance. The delegation members were joined by the current Chinese students of the LL.M. International Finance Program.

On 24 October 2017, the delegation reconvened at the China Europe International Exchange (CEINEX) in their head offices at Tower 185 in Frankfurt. Dr. Junjun Zhu, Director and Section Head Product Development, and Mr. Shan Zhong, Manager, Product Development Department, described the scope of business of CEINEX. After a Q&A session, Dr. Friedewald wrapped-up the two day workshop with his closing remarks on the attractiveness of Frankfurt as a venue for the international and national banking and finance sectors. He thanked all speakers for their excellent presentations and wished the Huarong delegation a safe journey back to China.
