Dr. Thomas Schürrle is a Partner with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in Frankfurt active in the firm's Mergers & Acquisitions, Finance and Private Equity Groups, with an emphasis on cross-border transactions. Dr. Schürrle joined the firm in May 2001.
Dr. Schürrle is a graduate of Ruprecht Karls Universität Heidelberg (1981) from which he also holds a doctorate in law (Dr.iur., 1985) and the University of Michigan Law School (LL.M., 1987). He was admitted as Rechtsanwalt in 1985 and is a member of the New York bar. Prior to joining Debevoise, he was a lawyer with Nörr Stiefenhofer Lutz in Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin for 15 years, where he became a partner in 1990. Dr Schürrle began his career as an administrative and antitrust lawyer, focusing on litigation. He has been active in financing, capital markets and mergers and acquisitions transactions relating to the biotech, IT, and high-tech industries for nearly 30 years and has worked on numerous transactions relating to new economy ventures. Dr. Schürrle is also a member of the supervisory board of a number of enterprises.
Dr. Schürrle's publications cover a wide range of topics relating to investments in German companies and antitrust issues. He is a frequent speaker on corporate law topics in business seminars.
