Dr. Klauß is a German Rechtsanwalt and Counsel in Linklaters‘ Competition/Antitrust Group, based in the Düsseldorf office.

Vita

Dr Klauß studied Law at the universities of Osnabrück, Germany, and Leiden, the Netherlands. Following further training, including at DG Competition of the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office, he wrote his doctoral thesis on international cooperation of competition authorities in controlling cross-border restrictions of competition. He was admitted to the bar in 2003 and joined Linklaters in 2005. He advises major national and international corporates and banks on all aspects of European and German competition law, including merger control, cartel and abuse of dominance/monopolisation proceedings before the European Commission, the Bundeskartellamt and before European and German courts and advises on compliance matters and internal investigations. He has particular expertise in international merger control proceedings and in advising clients with a strong market position on compliance with rules applicable to dominant companies. His sector focus is on financial markets, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and consumer goods, oil and gas, and the chemical industry.

Dr Klauß has three children and enjoys skiing and riding his mountain bike.

Publications

Dr Klauß has published on competition law topics in legal journals (e.g. GWR, GRUR Prax, NJW, EuZW and Der Betrieb) as well as articles and commentaries in newspapers and magazines (Handelsblatt, Börsenzeitung, etc.). He publishes monthly reports on German competition law topics in European Competition Law Review (ECLR).
